This month, see wondrous Rome with our client fave, Francesca:

There are so many possibilities for Italy Tours or Vacation Packages, how can you decide which destination to pick for your spring holiday? We thought we’d ask one of Avventure Bellissime’s amazing expert licensed Italy tour guides what her top pick for a getaway in Italy this spring would be.

After all, our exceptional Avventure Bellissime tour guides are often mentioned by name in glowing reviews on TripAdvisor and have helped us earn a Certificate of Excellence from TripAdvisor for several consecutive years.

For spring we’ve asked our popular Rome tour guide Francesca where she would spend a beautiful spring day in Italy.

Francesca, who was born in Rome and has been a licensed tour guide with us for more than a decade, studied Roman Archeology at university and worked as an archeologist before her love of historical exploration and research led to her present career. Her love for the city of her birth runs deep.

“Even as a tour guide for many years I can tell you that every day I find something new and interesting in the story of my city,” she explains.

She would, even after all her years taking travelers on the Small Group Tour of Ancient Rome and other Rome day tours and excursions, return to explore these remnants of the mighty Roman Empire on her own.

“My favorite places are the Colosseum, Roman Forum and Pantheon. Here you can still feel the grandeur of a glorious past,” enthuses Francesca.

She is also drawn to other examples of Rome’s generations of political intrigue and artistic triumph: “There are also so many other interesting places to visit, such as little churches, palaces of noble families and less famous museums with very interesting art collections. Not to mention marvelous parks to take a rest on a sunny spring day and have a picnic.”

For those wanting to explore a little outside the romantic heart of the city of Rome, Francesca says: “If you want to spent a day somewhere near Rome you must see the Castelli Romani.”

This collective of towns, just 15 minutes southeast of Rome, has been where Romans have gone to escape the hot weather since ancient times.

“The small and charming villages on the Albani mountains, such as Frascati and Marino, famous for the wine and the delicious porchetta; Castel Gandolfo, the Papal summer residence, and the beautiful lake; or Nemi, which is very famous for the little wild strawberries,” says Francesca. “These are places where you have a perfect mix between art, history and food. Visiting the treasures of each village you can enjoy marvelous flavors in some small osteria and taste excellent wine in one of the many wineries.”

Francesca recommends travelers consider Avventure Bellissime’s best-selling vacation packages such as the 11-Day Amalfi, Rome, Florence, & Venice Tour or the 8-Day Rome to Venice Essence of Italy Tour. PhilaTravelingFamily recently went to Rome and booked several tours with Avventure Bellissime, including the Small Group Tour of Ancient Rome and the Walking Tour of the Vatican with Francesca. In their TripAdvisor review titled “We loved Avventure Bellissime,” they said, “Francesca our tour guide was fabulous -- informative, interesting, energetic, enthusiastic, helpful -- she really cared about us and made sure we had a great time. Both those tours are definitely worthwhile.”

A couple from the UK took the same tours with Francesca recently and gave Avventure Bellissime five stars in their TripAdvisor review. With Jenmlc as their TripAdvisor name, they said were glad they pre-booked the tours: “Not only did we skip the lines, we also had Francesca as our guide (for both trips). She was amazing. Very knowledgeable and fun.”
